Macgregor Black are partnering with a Leading DIY business who are looking to recruit a Head of Retail to lead their retail sales channel.
As the Head of Retail, you will create and implement a robust strategy to secure and increase the brands market share. You will establish excellent relationships with key procurement and supply-chain contacts within the retail distribution, acting as a key custodian of the trading relationships between the business and customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be the champion for Retail distribution, so that the channel receives attention, focus and respect whilst ensuring any issues are pursued to conclusions satisfactory to both parties.
- Actively seek out, listen and look for opportunities to innovate the Retail offering in order for the business to become a valuable and valued customer partner, helping strengthen brand positioning through differentiation.
- Achieve profitable sales growth and strive to exceed financial targets for your sector by influencing the activities and plans of the Sales Team.
- Monitor and self-assess performance, identify improvements, and take corrective action when required.
- Work as an integral part of the leadership team to develop and support the delivery of sales plans as well as ensuring marketing plans are implemented through close collaboration with the marketing and communications team.
- Play a lead role in targeting and pursuing new customers for the sector by developing their awareness and interest in the product offering.
- Work with and maintain good relationships with manufacturers and suppliers with a view to expanding business for mutual benefit.
What are we looking for?
- Qualifications – Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Communication – Highly-effective interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Awareness – Accountable for your actions, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
- Team leadership and people development – Proven experience in a team leadership and mentoring role.
- Management – Ability to influence and direct activities for individuals that do not report to you.
- Travel – Willingness to travel throughout the UK on a regular and frequent basis.
- Organisation – It is a requirement to present high levels of organisation and discipline.
- Record – A strong track record of success in a similar role.
- Computer systems literate – Excellent IT skills including using Microsoft Office software, business intelligence and stock control systems.
- Knowledge and awareness of financial processes – Demonstrable understanding of financial principles e.g. gross margin, profit and cost to serve.
- Excellent numeracy – Budgeting and measurements process including Territory forecast management.
